I love vintage fur… ok, I'll just admit it: I love fur. No matter if it is fake or real. When I see a fur jacket or coat I have to try it on, immediately. And vintage fur is actually a lot of fun, because you have to really make an effort to make it look contemporary or at least not looking like your grandma's fur coat (even though it is). Check out how Cristine Centenera and Kate Moss are wearing them.

So, the other day I borrowed a fur coat from my mother-in-law. She actually gave it to me, but I couldn't just take it, so we both agreed in borrowing it. The coat is around 30 years old and as far as she knows it's nutria. I read somewhere that vintage fur cannot be considered a murder, since the animals would be already dead by now. And I have to agree with it. If you like wearing fur, but are afraid of anti-furries, wear a vintage fur. The damage is already done, so why not use it? A few years back even Peta donated old, vintage furs to the homeless in New York. To me an example of how even anti –furries have to admit that it is stupid to condemn someone who's wearing a vintage fur.

So, get into your aunt's, grandma's or mother-in-laws closet and dig that fur out! If they don't have it, there's always a thrift or a salvation army shop around the corner – they always have a lot of vintage furs lying around, you just have to find that right one, the one that speaks to you.

What to wear it with? I paired mine with leather pants, sneakers and a small day bag, because the coat itself is a huge story, so you don't want to make an even bigger one. With vintage (or any other) fur always keep it simple. Jeans, leather, sneakers or casual booties paired with vintage fur coat (check out Kate Moss) it's the only thing that won't make you look like a grandma. What do you say, worth a try?
