Today, around 1 o'clock AM, I went to bed after I was watching one of my favourite shows. As always before I go to sleep I checked my Instagram feed… and the first post I saw was this

I didn't know what it meant so I clicked on a #prayforparis hashtag … and there were more photos of Paris with Pray for Paris call … I scrolled down and finally found some information … I was in shock … I immediately turned the TV back on to CNN … massacre … more that 100 dead…. 6 different places in Paris … terrorists shooting people … suicide bombs going off…. I watched in disbelief and at the same time checking new posts from instagrammers still not believing what I'm seeing....

You might not know, but my country, Slovenia, is one of those countries that are on the Balcan way and every day we are accepting thousands of refugees from Syria and other countries that are terrorized by extremists. We offer them all the medical care, food, shelter for the time they spend here and transport. In one month we've accepted more than 200.000 refugees on their way to Germany. Let me remind you, we are a small country with no more than 2 million inhabitants... Our authorities decided to put up a fence along the Crotian border, and there are a lot of people that are opposing this. They might have their reasons, but from my point of view this is necessary for the protection of my country and the protection of the refugees.

The Paris massacre is a wake up call for everybody. I don't want my child to live in a world of fear. I don't want to tell him anymore that this year and next year and maybe years to come we are not visiting Paris, London or any other european country and we are not going on vacation to Tunisia, Turkey or Egypt … just because I'm afraid that we'll be killed there by these monsters that are blinded by their believes and all they want is for people to suffer. How long will we tolerate this?

I'm not religious in anyway, but I say yes, pray for Paris and also pray for us all if we allow those terrorists to frighten us, to make us leave our homes or lock us in it. We must let them know that we cannot and we will not tolerate their lies and their cruelty anymore.

''You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.'' Eric Hoffer
